Deep Cleaning

When bacteria and buildup settle deep below your gum line, your smile can start to suffer silently—that is, until it can’t stay silent any longer, and gum disease symptoms interfere with your life. At Pacific Woods Dental, our dental deep cleaning services gently clear out the problem areas, helping your gums heal and your smile stay strong.

Plaque and tartar that build up over time can create pockets in your gums that make it harder to brush and floss effectively. These pockets are also great hiding places for bacteria that cause more inflammation. Scaling and root planing (SRP) is a specialized cleaning done beneath the gum line to address gum disease.

Scaling

We gently remove all of the buildup from both the surface of your teeth and below the gums.

Root Planing

We smooth out the tooth roots, helping gums reattach and discouraging bacterial growth.

Is dental deep cleaning painful?

Not at Pacific Woods Dental. We use techniques that keep the process gentle without compromising results. Your gums might feel a little sensitive afterward, but we provide you with tips to manage any discomfort.

If gum disease is caught early, improved oral hygiene and routine dental maintenance might be enough. However, for more moderate to severe gum issues, SRP is the most effective treatment.

Most patients feel back to normal within a few days. Stick to soft foods, avoid intense brushing for a day or two, and rinse with warm salt water to soothe your gums.

This depends on your gum health. Some patients get an initial SRP and maintenance cleanings every 3-4 months. Our team will personalize a plan that’s just right for you.
